Bradley.Basso: religious stained glass art installation
Religious: Sense of place
Stained glass art installation
The Priory Church of St.Mary the Virgin and St Lawrence
Ellerton Yorkshire UK
This stained glass design proposal evokes concepts of time, through changing seasons in the protected landscape of the Derwent Ings. Rare flood meadows adjacent to this redundant church on the borders of Yorkshire and Humberside. The church has been reclaimed and restored by the community for the pursuit of craft activities and as a Visitor Centre for the Ings.

Detail East window
The three light window uses differing colour hues for Summer and Autumn with neutral hues inferring reflections for the winter Flood Plains season. Unification within the window is provided by the strenght of form derived from the Celtic Tree of Life, with its roots and branches representing evolution and regeneration.

Design: detail
Colour and season, land and sky, water and reflection are paralleled by the uses of glass and lead. The colour and light qualities of the glass are amplified by the energy and graphic strength of the descriptive lead line, created by large width variations of the lead cames.

Colour concept of the window, suggesting the essence of the 3 seasons that characterize this peculiar area.
