‘Fragments of Lives’

Architectural Glass Art Screens

St James Priory Bristol UK

A sequential series of six related panels in the North Isle, culminating in an arched screen at the East end to create a fusion of old to new as part of the total conservation and reordering of the 12th century, Grade 1 listed Priory building.

Depth blasted text and laminated blue ‘Symbolic Fragments’ form 3 meter high vertical columns of text based on the Guttenberg Bible’s first printed type face, but with words in context to the current work of the St James’ Priory Project, a charitable trust that runs an extremely successful residential addiction centre within a number of buildings around the church.

The creation of the work is innovative in technique and powerfully symbolic in context to the Priory Project, whilst also suggesting the agonies and ecstasies of Christian beliefs (running parallel with the Stations of the Cross) whilst making a subliminal reference to Bristol!
