Bradley.Basso: light modulation and focus

Ambience: context with focus

Stairway windows

Golders Green London NW11 UK

These circular stairway windows were conceived as a focus for the building in response to its unique architectural configurations. References to its angularity and projecting semi-circular stairway are evident in combination. The close proximity of a railway required sound and visual insulation and the resulting effect of transmitted light produces a soft ambience quality by day. At night a more dramatic result is produced by reflected light, while still providing the required screening.

Processing glass to achieve different levels of obscurity can fuse aesthetics and function, contributing to the architectural concept and its exterior and interior detailing.
